There is and endless combination when it comes to long hair and side bangs. From hairstyles for everyday lounging to formal updos, there are just so many ways to go. What’s brilliant about long hair is that there’s a whole lot of room to explore different styles – and long locks with side bangs is totally one fashionable look to try! Joining the fringe movement should get you excited with the amazing effects that a bang can do for your overall look.

Bangs are well known for their face-framing and slimming abilities! With side bangs, the hair is often layered to get a balanced appearance. Knowing your face shape, as well as your stylist’s expertise, is key to rocking a customized hairstyle that flatters your facial features. Side swept bangs are exceptionally great at hiding larger forehead areas.

Jennifer Garner and royalty Duchess Kate Middleton both own this one as their signature look, and they haven’t looked any less fantastic! As far as maintenance goes, a trim is needed regularly to keep your side fringe looking fresh and flawless at all times!

How would you describe this look?

The best thing about this look is how effortless it looks while still being very put together. With her skin tone and eye color, we chose a red-brown that looks like it should be her natural color. We added some tape-in extensions (VoMor) to add fullness and create a layered look. Her side bangs keep her cut from being too heavy around the face and blend in very nicely to her layers.

Any advice for someone considering it?

I would say go for it! It’s very easy to maintain. Her hair was styled in about 20 minutes using a large curling iron and big sections. The side swept bangs are great because they don’t require a lot of maintenance or trims in between services.

How would you describe this look?

Between the length of her hair, the shadowy black, and her bangs, this look reminds me of an Egyptian goddess. I hear so much that woman doesn’t want to go darker because of their skin tone but look how flawless it is! I admire the richness of her color and the shine it illuminates. Her bangs are very thick and don’t fuse into the length of the hair but it still compliments her face shape pleasantly.

Any advice for someone considering it?

Bangs are a battle. We don’t know whether we want them, how they will look, or how to style them daily. Whether your hair is short or long, thick or fine, there is a bang style for you! Think of your face shape, your daily routine, and most importantly, your style. Maybe some edgy micro bangs or soft 70’s curtain bangs? Don’t turn away from bangs before searching a style just for you!

How would you describe this look?

This look is a very modern, classic look. The long layers are perfect for almost anyone, and adding the angles and longer fringe really help to frame her face! My favorite thing about this cut is that it could be easily customized to any face shape so anyone would be able to pull off this modern haircut.

Another thing I like about this cut is that when you have the longer layers and angles it makes it easier to style your hair. Naturally curly haired clients could let their hair go natural and the layers would help the curls get a curlier look! If they didn’t have the layers there would be more weight on the hair and the curls would be straighter. If you have straight hair, adding layers, angles and the fringe would help add texture, movement, and depending on your hair, body!

Any advice for someone considering it?

This haircut is a very easy style! It would be able to be easily styled, but if you wanted to let it go natural, you could! Using the right products when you blow out your hair like using a volumizing spray to help add a little lift in the crown. Or using a heat protectant before adding some curls. The long layers in the back are perfect for any face shape, adding the face framing is easily customizable for each face shape to make it perfect for each client. Any client would be able to rock this look!

How would you describe this look?

This long one-length haircut is what hair dreams are made of! A long side swept bang pairs perfectly with this look and helps to create some softness and frames the face.

It has a wow factor! All that shine has a mirror-like effect and is sure to make heads turn.

Any advice for someone considering it?

To recreate this style you’ll need to use an anti-frizz smoothing cream before blow-drying with a paddle brush. Then a few quick passes with a flat iron and some shine spray will give you that extra smooth finish.

If you are considering this type of hairstyle, it is important to keep your long locks strong and healthy. Hair of this length may require a little extra attention. Having a healthy hair routine, including regular trims and treatments, will ensure your hair looks silky smooth in all its natural beauty!

How would you describe this look?

This look has two factors, the cut and the color. The cut is one of signature cut from Oribe haircare, which embraces the movement and fluency of the hair without having lots of layers. For the color, I used the combination of babylights in foils and balayage at the end to achieve the most amount of highlights in one sitting. I used Redken Shade Eq to tone and even out the canvas then gloss over with Pulpriot Fireball (add Clear for the brighter ends). My favorite thing about doing this look is to create the elegance of the longer layer hairstyles.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This look is suitable for most of the clients who looking for movement and lightness without cutting short or being thinned out. The long swipe bang (on either side) create the soft diffuse illusion so clients faces look slimmer (unless they have small face then we might consider bringing the bang little shorter) to style this look I used all Oribe products – prep with Supershine the unbeatable leave-in conditioner, blowout with grandiose plumping mousse, smooth the ends with royal blowout oil (heat protecting and smoothing the hair shaft), and then finish with impermeable spray to create light hold with shine and anti-humidity.

Tone every 6-8 weeks. Cut every 3-4 months. Do an Olaplex treatment biweekly.

How would you describe this look?

This is such a fun cut! She had a great thickness to her hair and actually came in with the hair annoyingly in her face and wanted something that would open up it a little more, so we worked with what she had. I used Aveda volumizing tonic and Phomollient to help add somebody. I gave her long layers to give her movement and soft face framing layers to accentuate her face. Her hair is her natural color which really makes her eyes pop!

Any advice for someone considering it?

This look is a great universal style! It’s still long enough to pull up and still give you some short fun pieces to pull out for a cute ponytail. This cut is a pretty low maintenance cut and easy to style with a round brush, blow dryer, and some volumizing products as I mentioned before. She had thick hair so it really worked for her with taking out the weight and not letting it feel weighed down. Overall I really love this cut.

How would you describe this look?

This cut is the ultimate curly shag with loads of height and curly side swept bangs and bits! My favorite thing about it is the overall shape and edge to something so soft.

Any advice for someone considering it?

I would suggest the client looking for this style find a curly hair specialist and one who potentially cuts with the straight blade razor. As for styling, I send my big curly hair clients home with Undressed and Hair Balm by Hairstory and Y.S. Parks soft metal mesh sock diffuser.

How would you describe this look?

Cheers to the ’70s! This shag haircut has the versatility of all the classic ’70s styles all in one.

Wanting the trendy “curtain bangs”? Looking to wear a middle part? Maybe your goal is maximum movement? Cascading layers upon layers is the answer.

Any advice for someone considering it?

The shag haircut supports them all! I love that this cut allows preserving length on the hair, or not. It is even suited for the low maintenance lady. It can be worn “air dried”, and no styling needed if you don’t want to! Be prepared for an updated, sexy shake-that-hair look!

Gorgeous Formal Updo with Side Swept Bangs

How would you describe this look?

This was a tricky bridal updo since my client had a side shave she was growing out and wanted for me to hide it if possible. We used clip in extensions to achieve the full bun as her hair was chin length! I started by blow drying the hair for maximum volume and used Hollywood waves mousse by L’Oréal. I then took a one-inch barrel curling iron to the hair and extensions to blend them together a bit before twisting pieces softly back and pinning them. Her bangs were integral to her feeling like herself so we kept them down with soft face-framing pieces. We had styled her last out of the wedding party and as time was a bit tight I managed to complete the look in just 30 minutes!

Any advice for someone considering it?

It’s really important not to do something so far from your everyday look. I sometimes hear brides complaining that they wish they had worn their hair down if that’s how they always wear it. For this bride, her bangs were her “thing”. I also think that a soft style like this can work on almost any hair type but it’s best to stay truer to your natural texture. If your hair is really curly keep it like that! Also, take into consideration you’ll probably not want to worry about your hair (frizzing and going flat) on the night of your wedding.
